I loved this! My mate used to write poetry, but then again, didn’t we all at one point or another. I’m trying to get her back into writing, but she keeps telling me that she is not a poet any more. I am going to forward this to her. Many of her poems from the past are very dark. She suffered through sexual abuse and much more. However, one does not have to look at the dark side of things in order to write a poem. As the mouse creeps under brush, he does not notice the owl, the owl is waiting.
I'm sorry to hear of her trauma. Poetry can definitely spring from a dark place, as can all writing, art, etc., and I think that often creativity can be a huge part of the healing process. Love that last line, by the way!
